Hi guys, It’s me Jawad Hussain, studying BCA at SAFI INSTITUE, Vazhayour. In our college there are BCA and BSc Computer Science programs. The students of the department are not much aware about the Free Open Source movements going on around the globe. We would like to be informed much about the open source softwares and about the movements. We require a FOSS program in which we need an introduction and basic information in Free Open Source. So we would like to conduct a two day program with workshop on Free Open Source in our campus at Vazhayour. The planned schedule for the above program is on 8th and 9th of March 2014. We would like to include interactive sessions in which the following topics are to be discussed:- What’s FOSS? Why? For what? Benefits of FOSS in academic and career level. Politics of FOSS. Contribution to FOSS( how to contribute??, who can contribute??, where we start???) And also a workshop session on:- how to install, configure Free Open Source softwares and programs A simple introduction to different programming languages of FOSS(Python, Ruby…), its coding and applications. Any one of the FOSS programming language and its coding like Python…
