Friends of FOSS

Revision as of 21:02, 4 February 2016 by Balasankarc (talk | contribs) (Add softwares available)

What is it?

Even now, an age of relatively better Internet speed and availability, there are many in need of installation media of Free Softwares and support for installing them. The community once uplifted the sharing culture of hackers, which not only made sure everyone had access to the softwares, but also enabled new bonds and connections between members of the community, thus helping the community grow. So, it is the responsibility of the community to make sure that those in need of Free Software, has a pain-free way to access it.

Friends of FOSS project is an old-school project to list out resource persons throughout the nation, who can act as provides of Free Softwares in their locality. Yes, this is not a new idea and was in practice in earlier times. But somehow, mainly with the advancement in Internet availability, it ceased to exist. This project not only makes sure everyone has access to Free Software, but also paves a platform where community members can meet those-in-need and discuss with them the advantages of FOSS and connect them to the rest of the community. So, it satisfies a sharing + caring + talking + growing blend of purposes.

Find below a list of resource persons, categorized by State, whom may be contacted to get a CD/DVD/Image of Free Softwares (or to get information about whom to contact)
