Lets discuss the ideas for this year's SFD and contact the co-ordinators if you are interested to participate in this effort.

We had an initial discussion on 27th Aug 3pm at Cubbon Park (enter from MG Road).

Event plan

  • Blog about the event and preperation -- everyone
  • Reach out to maximum people through -- Praveen, Ramprasad, Kushal, Pavithran
    • Mailing lists
    • Orkut and other online communities
    • SMS, Rediff Bol, Yahoo messenger, Google Talk ...
  • Mass media campaign -- Anivar & Praveen
    • FM Radio
    • Television
    • Print media
  • Promotional materials -- Aanjhan
    • posters
    • T-shirts/Kurta
    • Distro/Free Software CDs/DVDs, Videos & audio ( Truth Happens, Trusted computing )
    • Pamphlets
  • Sign up volunteers for --
    • Localisation
    • Free Software {in,for,as} Education
  • Collect and display news articles
  • Mobilise colleges near to the centers (get a list of all colleges) -- Ramprasad
  • Sponsorship --

The plan is to focus on students in the morning session and others in the afternoon session.

Campuses

The event will happen at these colleges (Others can join the nearest location)

  1. BMSCE - BMS College of Engineering -- Praveen, Aanjhan, Anish, Nethravathi, Sharadha
  2. St. Joseph College -- Vijoo Krishnan
  3. Bangalore Institute of Technology -- Ramprasad B, Srichand P
  4. Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering -- Ramprasad B, Laxminarayan Kamath

We will form a core group of 10 people in each college to co-ordinate the event there. 3 will be from FSUG, 2 active students and the rest teachers/members of campus clubs.

We will start with a video and discussion after that. It will be followed by a talk (one from FSUG) and further discussions based on the talk. Then we will demo Free Software (show off your favorite distro/application), students can also demo their favorite applications.
